What's in my makeup bag?|June Edition|

it's in the bag...

I've never been one to hoard makeup, but I thought it was time to spotlight my bag and what products I'm currently using on a daily basis. Especially in the warmer months, I like to keep my coverage natural and the products to a minimum.

3 Things You Need to Know About Choosing Foundation

its all about that base...

Today I'm going to be focusing on liquid foundations. There are many factors to consider when making your choices; such as the occasion and your lifestyle. You need a foundation to suit these needs and fit your routine. Foundation is the most important element to get right. A poor choice can ruin the overall effect of your great eyelashes--or distract from your bold lip color.

9 MUST HAVES for Vintage Hairstyling

I can remember back in the day when I was scrounging for tips to help me style my hair vintage. I wished someone would just explain things to me! I had loads of questions like "How did women in the 1940s do it? What tools do I need? And What in the world is setting lotion? " Thankfully, the Internet is now full of great blogs and resources that can help you learn to style your own fabulous vintage hair. Everyone is different and has their own preferences, but these are the tools that I can't live without!

Beauty Haul|The Makeup Show L.A. 2015

When it comes to makeup, I am definitely on the lookout for some new favorites. I decided to attend The Makeup Show for the first time this year. Geared toward makeup professionals, there were lots of free demos and opportunities to further your product knowledge and pick up a few tips from the masters of makeup. Among them were Ashanta Shariff, James Vincent, and Orlando Santiago. I'm quite satisfied with this haul. I went out of my comfort zone and went with some brands that I've never used before.

Product Review|Stila Pallette: In the Light

Stila in the the Light Eyeshadow Pallette |This was my first stila pallette and I really love it. The colors are very versatile With 10 shades to play with, I can get loads of different looks from this little guy! The color payoff is quite good and the texture is nice. I really like the mix of shimmers and mattes, it keeps from me looking too reflective, if you know what I mean.

August Favorites

August 2014 Favorites| Vintage Beauty Detective| vintagebeautydetective.blogspot.com

I know August isn't over, but I'm so excited to get this show on the road! I haven't done much experimenting lately, which explains the small handful of products.

Matrix Biolage Thermal-Active Setting Spray $$ This stuff is fabulous! Boasting some thermal protection and a medium hold, it's a great way to counteract the heat from styling and achieve some staying power without hairspray. I use it when doing my curling iron set and with hot rollers- it gives an extra oomph of volume too. I snatched mine on clearance (see the orange tag?) at a ridiculously low price because of the outdated packaging. Check out it's new look!

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue $$$ I'm not an avid perfume wearer but I do love the citrus aroma of Light Blue! I pop on a spray now and then and feel fresh. Definitely pleased with this splurge.

Besame Lipstick in American Beauty $$ I wear a lot of red lipstick but I always get compliments when I wear a Besame lipstick. If you haven't tried their products, I highly suggest you do. At $22 it's not terribly expensive, but you definitely get bang for your buck with the lovely packaging. The texture is great and it smells a bit like chocolate to boot! They're giving free samples with any purchase so make sure to pop on over to their website!

Paul Mitchell Smoothing Super Skinny Serum $$ I have to say so far I really enjoy this serum.Great for smoothing out pincurls when they get a little frizzed. It's very light and requires minimal product to smooth fly-aways. It'll take me forever to finish the bottle!

Have you tried anything you just can't live without? Please let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear from you!
